![]() Simply put, it’s an amazing game (even by 2022 standards) and I think you’d enjoy HFW a lot less without it. Assuming HFW’s is as good, I wouldn’t want to risk not enjoying it by skipping HZD. Thankfully HZD’s plot is fantastic so it should be fun to go through. The plot was amazing and did a lot of world building so I imagine not having it under your belt for HFW will leave you saying “huh what?” a lot. HZD’s story is difficult to explain and would be impossible to distill well to players jumping in at HFW. I don’t know a lot about HFW’s story but going off of a few trailers and HZD’s story, I’m guessing HFW will be hard to follow without HZD. It’d be a fantastic game even if it dropped today and I highly recommend. I was expecting something boring that I’d put down halfway through but ended up itching to finish the DLC and post-game content. I just played it for the first time this week because I just needed something to play and was blown away. HZD is a fantastic game and holds up incredibly well. It's a totally different kind of post-apocalyptic world- way more positive and hopeful than most but still eery and a little bit scary at times and very mysterious. ![]() Watching a summary would be really sad though, because it's a really unique, wonderful story and world to experience. There are things (the protagonist's backstory, characters!, places, why is the west forbidden?, culture(s), the mystery, enemies, etc.) you simply won't know or understand if you don't play the first game or at least watch a summary. If you don't play it I'm guessing you will be really confused with Forbidden West because the first game is very story heavy and there is no way the story isn't related in some way. if you were fine with TLOU1 which is from 2013). ![]() You will for sure be fine with the graphics (esp. I recently played the game for the first time and it's still an extremely good game - I mean it's one of the best I've ever played. Once you hit a certain point, aside from obvious (like people talking during missions) information you run into a lot of data points that start filling the gaps pretty damn fast. ![]() Then back to the main to finally see what was happening. Then the Frozen Wilds (not too bad) which doesn't ruin the main game's story but gives a little insight. I was kind like 'wtf' too for a big but I did a lot of the side quests first, grinding and such. There's times where it's got good emotional depth, shit that will make you think nice and hard as well as other elements of a good story.Īt the same time if you really don't care for it, spam X and skip cut scenes and have fun murdering the robots (and bad people). I'm going to say that the story doesn't start out 'the best' at first.Īs things progress - depending on what sort of stories you're into of course - it gets a lot more intricate and neat.
